The bulk of the cereals consumed was wheat at 100 kilos per capita, with pork and beef ranking as the most popular types of meat at 42kg and 20kg per capita, respectively.
Slovenia is much more self-sufficient when it comes to animal products than crop produce. Especially low rates of self-sufficiency in 2010 were recoded for vegetables and wheat at 31% and 56%, respectively. The rate of self-sufficiency for meat and eggs topped 80%.
Meanwhile, Slovenia produced more wine than it consumed, with white wines representing 63% of the quality wine produced by the country in the commercial year 2009/10.
