Over 2,600 coronavirus cases, ten deaths reported for Wednesday
Ljubljana - Another 2,631 people tested positive for coronavirus in Slovenia on Wednesday, an increase of more than 40% from the week before, as hospitalisations increased further above 500 and ten more Covid patients died, official figures show.
The test positivity rate remained high with 36% of the PCR tests returning positive yesterday, shows data released by the government.
With the latest cases, the number of actively infected people in the country increased to 23,748, according to estimates by the National Institute of Public Health.
The 7-day average of new daily cases increased by 113 on the day before to 2,067 as the 14-day incidence per 100,000 people rose by 74 to 1,125.
According to the government, 547 people are being treated for Covid-19 in hospitals, with data from the Covid tracker site showing 87 patients were newly admitted yesterday and 56 were discharged as ten died. ICU cases dropped slightly to 131.
The youngest hospitalised patient is 19 and the youngest in intensive care is 34 years old.
