Ljubljana - A total of 3,771 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in Slovenia on Thursday in 9,961 tests for a positivity rate of almost 38%, the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) announced, as the daily number of cases dropped somewhat after reaching an absolute record on Wednesday.

The seven-day average of new daily cases has increased by 180 to 2,671, and the 14-day incidence per 100,000 residents rose by 85 to 1,603.

Government data shows the number of patients hospitalised with Covid-19 has increased by 26 to 761, with 177 of them now being treated in intensive care, up by eight compared to the day before. Thirteen patients with Covid-19 died yesterday.

The NIJZ estimates that there are now 33,827 active coronavirus cases in the country, up by more than 1,800 over the day before.
