Industrial output up slightly in September

Ljubljana - Industrial output in Slovenia in September was up by 0.2% compared to August, although it only increased in manufacturing, while other segments recorded a drop. At the annual level, industrial output in September was up by 7.8%, the Statistics Office reported on Wednesday.

Industrial output in manufacturing was up by 0.2% at the monthly level, while in electricity, gas and steam supply and in mining and quarrying it was down by 4.2% and 4.1%, respectively.

In the first three quarters of the year, industrial output was up by 11.9% year-on-year. It was actually higher only in manufacturing (+13.4%), while dropping in mining and quarrying (-11.3) and in electricity, gas and steam supply (-0.9%).

Compared to the same period in 2019, industrial output in the January-September period was up by 2.8%.

Despite the growth in industrial output in September, total sales revenue in industry in that month dropped by 0.4% compared to August. It was 1% down in foreign markets and 0.3% down in the Slovenian market.

Compared to September 2020, total sales revenue in industry was higher by 14.2%, the Statistics Office said.

This September, the total value of inventories in industrial production was up both at the monthly and annual levels - by 2% and 9.6%, respectively.
