Ljubljana - Another 3,662 people tested positive for coronavirus in Slovenia on Wednesday, just slightly up from the same day a week ago, figures released by the National Institute of Public Health show. Another 24 Covid-19 patients died, the largest number since late January, show government data.

Hospitalisations totalled 1,104 this morning, up by nine on the previous day, including 253 patients who required intensive care, up by two.

The rolling 7-day average of new cases thus rose from the day before by 44 to 3,269 whereas the 14-day cumulative incidence per 100,000 people fell by 40 to 2,153.

Consequently, the number of people estimated to be actively infected contracted by 848 to 45,395.

Nearly 40% of the PCR tests performed yesterday came back positive.

The latest fatalities pushed the national death toll to 5,317, according to Health Ministry data.
