Downward trend in Covid infections continues

Ljubljana - Slovenia logged another 2,668 coronavirus infections on Wednesday, a figure down both on daily and weekly levels, as hospital figures declined slightly and the number of patients in intensive care units reached a new record.

Both the 7-day average of new cases and 14-day incidence per 100,000 population decreased in a reflection of a falling trend.

The rolling 7-day average dropped by 142 from the day before to 2,786 and the 14-day cumulative incidence was down by 43 to 2,019, show figures by the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ).

As a result, the estimate of active cases in the country fell by 898 to 42,559, according to the NIJZ.

Overall hospital numbers dropped slightly as 1,145 patients were in hospital this morning, but the number of ICU cases rose by three to 286, a new record.

Eleven patients with Covid-19 died, according to government figures.

Some 37% of the PCR tests conducted yesterday returned positive, down from nearly 40% a week ago.
