Almost 1,500 Covid cases confirmed as w/w drop continues

Ljubljana - A total of 1,478 PCR tests returned positive on Saturday as cases kept falling week-on-week, show the latest official data. Hospitalisations increased and another 23 Covid-19 patients died.

According to the government, 1,140 people are currently being treated in hospitals for Covid, up by 20 on yesterday, and 285 patients require intensive care, up by one.

The 7-day average of new cases dropped by as much as 109 from the day before to 2,369, and the 14-day incidence per 100,000 population was down by 43 to 1,858, show data by the National Institute of Public Health.

An estimated 39,165 people are currently infected in Slovenia, down by 881 in daily comparison. Cases have been falling week-on-week for the ninth day in a row.

The test positivity rate stood at 43.4% yesterday, down from 47.4% a week ago when more than 2,200 cases were logged.

The national death toll currently totals 5,518, according to Health Ministry data.
