Prishtina/Peć - After meeting Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić in Belgrade on Sunday, Slovenian President Borut Pahor will visit Kosovo on Monday to meet his counterpart Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti. He will also meet senior KFOR representatives and Slovenian soldiers serving in the NATO peacekeeping mission.

Meetings with senior officials of Serbia and Kosovo are aimed at exchanging assessments and views on the Belgrade-Prishtina dialogue, the Western Balkans situation and the region's EU prospects, as well as preparations for the next summit of the Brdo-Brijuni Process, Pahor's office said.

Pahor hosted the latest Brdo-Brijuni summit in Slovenia in May, at which the leaders agreed it was urgent to integrate Western Balkan countries into the EU faster, a stance which is also one of the priorities of Slovenia's EU presidency.

The Slovenian president will also visit Slovenian troops serving in KFOR in Peć, the Slovenian 44th contingent, and get acquainted with their situation.

Moreover, he will meet KFOR top representatives in Peć and Prishtina, including Major General Ferenc Kajari, KFOR commander, and Colonel Andrea Bertazzo, commander for Regional Command - West, to discuss the current situation in Kosovo, the mission's activities and future cooperation involving the Slovenian troops.

Slovenian soldiers were first deployed to Kosovo in January 2000. Since 2007, the Slovenian Armed Forces (SAF) has had a battalion-sized contingent there. With around 200 members, this is by far the largest SAF mission abroad.
