Ski jumper Urša Bogataj third in Ramsau
Ramsau - Slovenia's Urša Bogataj placed third in the women's Ski Jumping Word Cup meet in Austria's Ramsau on Friday, finishing behind Marita Kramer of Austria and Katharina Althaus of Germany. Another two Slovenian jumpers made it to the top ten.
The top three ski jumpers secured their rankings already after the first series of jumps and then maintained them in the second round.
Bogataj took the third place by landing at 90 metres in the first series and 89 metres in the second. The 26-year-old scored 253.3 points, only 7.7 points behind Kramer, who bagged the fifth win so far this season, having jumped 92 metres and 90 metres.
Slovenia's Ema Klinec and Nika Križnar were also on form, finishing fifth and sixth, respectively. Špela Rogelj's second jump was too short to propel her among the top ten, so she placed 17th in the end.
In the overall rankings, Kramer remains in the lead with 630 points, trailed by Althaus (461) and Bogataj (395). Klinec climbed to fourth spot (360), whereas Križnar, the winner of the last World Cup season, ranks seventh (271).
The women's World Cup season will now break and is scheduled to resume in Slovenia's Ljubno ob Savinji on 31 December.
