Koper - Representatives of the Koper police and the police of Croatian border counties Istria and Primorje-Gorski Kotar held their traditional holiday meeting at the Dragonja border pass on Thursday, thanking each other for successful cooperation in dealing with cross-border issues, the Koper Police Department said.

Chief of the Istrian Police Department Božo Kirin, who hosted the meeting, thanked his counterparts from Rijeka and Koper for their cooperation and added that the past two years had been full of challenges due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Excellent cooperation was also confirmed by the director of the Koper Police Department, Boris Korasa, and the deputy chief of the Primorje-Gorski Kotar Police Department, Hari Brnad.

According to Kirin, one of the reasons for good results is the quality and direct communication between the three police administrations. Everybody confirmed their confidence in continuing exemplary cooperation, with the aim of achieving a high level of security on both sides of the border.

Cooperation between Slovenian and Croatian police administrations is particularly emphasized during the tourist season, when it is essential to coordinate border controls to speed up the flow of traffic through crossing points.

Thanks to the quality of the operational information exchange, all three police administrations also worked together successfully in preventing cross-border crime and illegal migration, the Koper Police Department concluded.
