Luka Dončić tests positive for coronavirus

Dallas - Slovenia's NBA superstar Luka Dončić has tested positive for coronavirus, which comes on top of his ankle injury. The news was confirmed by his Dallas Mavericks last night amid a growing outbreak among players.

"Just when you are fairly certain things can't get any worse, they do," the Texas club said in a press release.

The Mavericks had hoped they would get Luka Dončić back from his left ankle problems on Thursday night against the defending NBA champion Milwaukee Bucks, but he tested positive on Wednesday afternoon.

Along with Tim Hardaway Jr., Reggie Bullock, Josh Green, Maxi Kleber and Trey Burke, Dončić will be out of action until he tests negative twice, or for 10 days, whichever comes first, said the club.

"On the bright side, Dončić will have some extra time to let his sore ankle improve," said the club, but added that he was unlikely to appear in the marquee Christmas Day game against Utah Jazz.

Dončić has already missed the last five games due to his ankle injury. This season he is averaging 25.6 points, 8.5 assists and 8 rebounds per game.
