Slight weekly increase in Covid cases on Sunday

Ljubljana - A total of 698 new coronavirus cases were recorded in Slovenia on Sunday in a 19% increase week-on-week, according to data by the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ). Hospitalisations were also up, while nine Covid-19 patients died yesterday.

According to the NIJZ, the 7-day average of new cases stood at 1,075, up 15 from the day before. The 14-day incidence per 100,000 people was up by one to 762.

Hospitalisations were also up, by 15 to 592 this morning, with the number of patients in intensive care increasing by four to 201. Nine Covid-19 patients died yesterday, government data show.

The youngest patient in ordinary Covid units is 18 years old, and the youngest patient in intensive care is 27 years old.

The total number of estimated active cases increased by 22 compared to Saturday, standing at 16,094. The PCR test positivity rate yesterday was 38%, up 6.9 percentage points compared to Saturday.
