Govt's approval rating at 30%, SDS in lead in Mediana poll
Ljubljana - The government's approval rating in the latest Mediana poll conducted for the commercial broadcaster POP TV is at 30%, while 62% of the respondents said the government was doing a poor job. The ruling Democrats (SDS) meanwhile improved their rating further, and are followed by the declining opposition Social Democrats (SD).
The SDS has gained 1.4 percentage points compared to the November poll by Mediana to 17.5%, while the SD lost almost one percentage point to 10.1%.
The opposition Left is in the third place, gaining almost two percentage points to 9.3%, while the opposition Marjan Šarec List (LMŠ) and coalition New Slovenia (NSi) gained 0.8 and 1.3 points, respectively, to share the fourth place at 6.1% each.
The opposition Alenka Bratušek Party (SAB) dropped by 1.6 points to 2.8%, and is followed by the non-parliamentary Pirate Party (2.5%), Good State (1.7%) and Greens (1.6%), and the opposition National Party (SNS) at 1.2%.
More than a fifth of the respondents did not know which party to vote for, with the relevant share dropping by two percentage points compared to November. The share of the respondents who would not vote for any party remained at 10%.
MEP Ljudmila Novak (NSi) remains at the top of the list of the most popular politicians, followed by President Borut Pahor and Health Minister Janez Poklukar. Ascending to fourth place was Robert Golob, the former director of energy trader Gen-I.
