New coronavirus cases continue to rise in weekly comparison
Ljubljana - The number of new coronavirus cases in Slovenia was up in weekly comparison for the second consecutive day on Monday, with 1,813 infections recorded, according to the latest data by the National institute of Public Health (NIJZ). A week ago, 1,555 cases were logged.
Currently, 586 people with Covid need hospital treatment, six fewer than yesterday, including 201 in intensive care, which is the same as yesterday. Eleven patients died, the government said.
Nearly 34% of PCR tests conducted yesterday came back positive, which is down 3.9 percentage points compared to the day before.
The number of estimated active cases in the country is now up by 97 to 16,191, the NIJZ said.
The 7-day average of new cases stands at 1,112, up 37 from the day before. The 14-day incidence per 100,000 people is up by four to 766.
According to government data, 56% of the population has been fully vaccinated.
