Almost 830 new Covid cases on Saturday as upward trend continues

Ljubljana - Slovenia recorded 829 new cases of coronavirus on Saturday as the upward trend from last week continues following several weeks of decline. The number of new cases was up 20% on the week before and the positivity rate of PCR tests reached 42%, up 11 points on the week before and up three points from Friday. Six Covid patients died.

The National Institute of Public Health says on its website that the 14-day incidence per 100,000 population was up 3 to 847 from Friday.

The seven-day rolling average of new daily cases increased by 24 to 1,482 in a day and by 422 in a week.

The number of active cases is estimated at almost 17,960, a daily rise of 75 and a weekly rise of 1,887.

Government data shows there are now 533 Covid patients in hospitals, one fewer than yesterday, of whom 173 are in intensive care, one down.

Just over 56% of Slovenia's population is fully vaccinated.
