Daily coronavirus count hits six-week high
Ljubljana - A total of 3,393 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in Slovenia on Monday, the highest daily count since 22 November as the outbreak accelerates. Meanwhile, hospitalisations were down, and eight Covid-19 patients died, official figures show.
According to the National Institute of Public Health, the 14-day incidence per 100,000 population is now at 953, up by 85 from the previous day as the seven-day average of new daily cases rose by over 200 to 1,747.
There are now an estimated 20,225 actively infected people in the country, up by 1,839 over the day before.
As many as 45% of the PCR tests conducted yesterday came back positive.
According to the government, hospitalisations were down by 17 to 531 today, with the number of patients in intensive care units dropping by eleven to 162. Eight Covid-19 patients died yesterday.
The youngest hospitalised Covid-19 patient is 24 years old, while the youngest patient in intensive care is 21 years old, the government said on Twitter.
