Ljubljana - Crime stories aficionados will get a chance to watch another two seasons of a popular TV series based on Tadej Golob's best-selling crime novels as Leninov Park (Lenin's Park) premieres on TV Slovenija on Sunday, to be followed by Dolina Rož (Valley of Roses) at the end of January.

This is after the public broadcaster RTV Slovenija turned Golob's Jezero (The Lake) into a six-episode season one in 2019 to the delight of its TV audience.

While Jezero was filmed in the middle of winter around Lake Bohinj and in Ljubljana, the second and third seasons will take viewers to the capital in summertime.

Chief police investigator Taras Birsa, played by acclaimed Sebastian Cavazza, will now be dealing with homelessness, neo-Nazism and tycoons alongside personal crises and old grudges.

Jezero was co-directed by Klemen Dvornik and Matevž Luzar, who have now directed Leninov Park and Dolina Rož, respectively. Dvornik told the STA both new seasons had been filmed simultaneously last summer.

"We tried to use urban Ljubljana as much as possible," said Dvornik, who hopes viewers will embrace the continuation of Jezero, which was watched by 25% of TV viewers.

Vladan Janković was director of photography for Leninov Park and Miloš Srdić for Dolina Rož after he shot Jezero, which received acclaim for its cinematography. Each of the new seasons has three episodes.
