Addressing the news conference at the end of the eurozone ministers' meeting late on Monday, Juncker explained that that the Eurogroup had been informed about the latest developments in Slovenia at the meeting.

The Euro Group "welcomed the ambitious consolidation measures" the Slovenian government has decided for, and the "strong commitment" by the government to eliminate the excess general government deficit in 2013 as agreed, Juncker told the news conference.

Last Friday, Slovenia's parliament passed a supplementary budget for 2012 aiming to cut the budget deficit to 3% of GDP as well as an omnibus act on the balancing of public finances which is to secure EUR 500m in savings this and EUR 750m next year.
