Klagenfurt - Slovenian snowboarder Tim Mastnak finished second in the men's World Cup parallel slalom event in Austria's Simonhöhe on Friday, conceding to Stefan Baumeister of Germany in the finals by 0.1 of a second. Italy's Roland Fischnaller finished third.

The 30-year-old from Celje was excellent in the qualifiers and on the road to the finals, where he lost to Baumeister, who already had one Snowboard World Cup win this season from Italy's Carezza.

This is the sixth career podium finish for Mastnak, who has three World Cup wins and two third-place finishes.

This was the last individual event in parallel disciplines in the Snowboard World Cup before the Winter Olympics in Beijing.
