Ljubljana - Slovenia logged 6,918 new coronavirus infections on Thursday as cases kept climbing and six more Covid-19 patients died, while hospital figures remain stable, show the latest official data.

According to the government, 524 Covid patients were treated in hospitals this morning, including 155 in intensive care. Compared with yesterday, this makes three fewer and one more, respectively.

The estimated number of active cases increased by some 5,000 to 55,657, according to the National Institute of Public Health.

The cumulative 14-day incidence per 100,000 population continued to rise and currently stands at 2,625, up by 238 on the day before. The 7-day case average topped 5,000 as the figure rose by 406 to 5,202.

The PCR test positivity rate remains at 51%.

Since 23 September, Slovenia has been coloured entirely dark red on the map of the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control. The updated map shows that almost all of Europe is dark red, meaning having the worst epidemiological status possible.
