Consumer confidence unchanged in January

Economy

Ljubljana - Slovenia's consumer confidence indicator remained the same on the monthly level in January, while it increased by five percentage points year-on-year, the Statistics Office said on Friday.

Consumer expectations about the country's economy improved (up 5 p.p.) in January, as well as expectations about major purchases (up 3 p.p.), while the indicator was levelled downwards by the assessment of current household finances (down 3 p.p.) and expectations about household finances (down 4 p.p.).

The January stagnation followed an improvement in consumer confidence in December, after it had been dropping for five straight months before that.

Compared to January 2021, the consumer confidence indicator improved this month in all components except expectations about household finances, which were down by 7 percentage points.

Meanwhile, expectations about the country's economy (up 14 p.p.), expectations about major purchases (up 9 p.p.) and the assessment of current household finances (up 4 p.p.) pushed the indicator up on the annual level.
