Almost 9,950 Covid infections confirmed on Friday
Ljubljana - As many as 9,945 infections were confirmed in Slovenia for Friday, a daily rise of 5,479 and a weekly rise of 2,365, shows data from the Institute of Public Health (NIJZ), which estimates that there are currently almost 102,000 active infections in the country. Government data shows 11 Covid patients died yesterday.
The 7-day average of confirmed infections is at 8,825, up 336 from Thursday, and the two-week incidence per 100,000 population rose by 261 to 4,827.
A total of 14,650 PCR tests were carried out, with nearly 68% returning positive under the new testing protocol which prioritises people with respiratory symptoms, NIJZ data shows.
The number of hospitalised Covid patients exceeded 600 this morning, rising by 2 from yesterday to 601, of whom 136 are in intensive care, down 8, government data shows.
The youngest hospitalised patient is 14 and the younger patient in intensive care 32.
Government data also shows that 57% of Slovenia's population, or 1,206,666 people, have been fully vaccinated, with a total of 573,239 also receiving a booster shot.
