Ljubljana - The ruling Democrats (SDS) would win 18.5% of the vote in the April general election, according a poll conducted for newspapers Dnevnik and Večer by pollster Ninamedia. The party of Robert Golob, the Freedom Movement, would come second with 16.2%, while the opposition Social Democrats (SD) would be third on 9.9%.

The opposition Left in fourth was at 6.1%, followed by the coalition New Slovenia (NSi) with 4.5%.

The opposition Marjan Šarec List (LMŠ) and Alenka Bratušek Party (SAB) would be in sixth and seventh places, polling at 3.9% and 3.2%, respectively.

All other parties combined would get 8.9% of the vote. The Connect Slovenia movement polled at 2.6%, the Our Land party of former Agriculture Minister Aleksandra Pivec 1.9%, the new Liberal Democrats (LIDE) party 1.8% and other parties even less.

Almost 29% of respondents would not reveal their party preferences or are still undecided.

Some 63% of respondents said they would definitely go to the polls. Another 15.4% said they would probably go, 2.3% that they may go and 2.3% that they would probably not vote.

Almost 7% of respondents will definitely not go to election and 12.1% do not know yet.

The poll, conducted among 1,050 people between 25 and 27 January, is the second in a series of polls that Ninamedia plans to carry out every two weeks until the election.
