Beijing - Slovenian snowboarder Rok Marguč will replace his team-mate Žan Košir as one of Slovenia's flag bearers at the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Beijing on 4 February, since Košir remains in isolation after testing positive for coronavirus upon arriving in China.

"The Olympic team management has taken the decision to choose Rok Marguč to carry the Slovenian flag alongside Alpine skier Ilka Štuhec. Marguč will thus replace Žan Košir, who is still in isolation," the Slovenian Olympic Committee said on Tuesday.

"Marguč is an experienced elite athlete and this year's Winter Olympics will be the fourth in a row for the former world champion in parallel slalom and silver medallist in parallel giant slalom," the committee added.

The committee also announced today that cross-country skier Eva Urevc had tested positive for coronavirus upon arriving in China as well, after she had recovered from Covid-19 just before the trip. If her next two tests are not negative, Urevc will also need to go into isolation.
