The president of the 622-seat German parliament is also scheduled to meet Maribor Mayor Franc Kangler and the organisers of the European Capital of Culture.

On Thursday, Lammert will hold talks with his Slovenian counterpart Virant in Ljubljana and address the National Assembly. Later he is scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Janez Janša and President Danilo Türk.

On day three of his official visit, Lammert will meet with Education, Science, Culture and Sport Minister Žiga Turk. He will also make a trip to the Alpine resort of Bled.
