Film Festival in Izola to Kick Off Tonight
The eighth Kino otok will present a new section dubbed "Archipelago", which will focus on the "Cinema City" festival from Novi Sad, Italian experimental films, and a film about an annual meeting of artists in the Topolo/Topolovo village in Italy.
The main section of the festival, the "Summer Cinema", will bring eight feature films, including "Shun Li and the Poet" by Italian Andrea Serge, who is scheduled to make an appearance at the festival along with the film's co-star, Croatian actor Rade Šerbedžija.
Another highlight of the festival will be the screening of "Cesar Must Die", for which Italian directors Paolo and Vittorio Taviani received the main award of the Berlinale film festival.
Vittorio's daughter, Giovanna Taviani, will moreover visit Izola to present her Salina Doc Fest festival held on Aeolian Islands.
The "Signals" and "Friends" sections will present British director Ben Rivers, while the latter will also feature screenings of Indian "Alms for the Blind Horse", British "Archipelago" and Macedonian "Punk's not Dead", selected by Olaf Möller, Neil Young and Jan Cvitkovič.
The festival will also have a children's programme, with four films screened at the Ljubljana Kinodvor cinema.
