Ljubljana - A total of 1,862 cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed in Slovenia on Thursday in what is a slight decrease week-on-week, show figures by the National Institute of Public Health, which estimates that there are currently 28,592 active cases in the country, or almost 2,000 fewer on a daily basis. Hospitalisations were also down.

The number of cases confirmed in 1,397 PCR tests and 9,899 rapid antigen tests performed yesterday is up by 39 compared to Wednesday.

The 14-day case notification rate per 100,000 population continued to drop, decreasing by almost 100 to 1,355, while the seven-day daily average of new cases was down by six to 1,634.

This morning, 288 patients were in hospital because of Covid-19, down 19 from yesterday, including 77 in intensive care, down one from the day before. Six patients with Covid-19 died yesterday, the government said.
