Hojs vows full support for Ukraine on meeting ambassador

Ljubljana - Interior Minister Aleš Hojs reiterated Slovenia's support for Ukraine as he received the country's Ambassador Mykhailo Brodovych on Monday. He said Slovenia would provide the necessary capacities to accommodate Ukrainian refugees.

According to a press release from the Interior Ministry, the Ukrainian ambassador thanked Slovenia for the humanitarian aid and equipment provided to his country.

Minister Hojs assured him of Slovenia's continued support for Ukraine as well as of the efforts for an end to hostilities. He said Slovenia was prepared for increased numbers of Ukrainian refugees and would provide capacities as needed.

He informed the ambassador that Ukrainian citizens can find the necessary information about the accommodation, registration and other procedures at the ministry's webpages. The site is available at sta.si/qheMu2.

The minister also promised the procedures would be simplified as much as possible on behalf of Ukrainian citizens.

Information made available to the STA by the General Police Administration as of this morning shows 381 Ukrainian citizens have stated their intention to ask for international protection in Slovenia since the start of the Russian invasion on Ukraine.

The Ukrainians can turn for information and help to the call centre set up by the Government Office for the Support and Integration of Migrants at free number 080 41 42 for calls from Slovenia or +386 1478 7530 for calls from abroad. They can also visit the website info.ukrajina@gov.si.
