At the monthly level, industrial production rose by 20.8% in mining and quarrying, while it edged down 0.7% in manufacturing and remained flat in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply.

Compared to April 2011, production was up 5.3% in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply and 3.6% in manufacturing, but it was down 1.6% in mining and quarrying.

The monthly trends show an increase in all industrial groupings, in capital goods by 3.8%, in intermediate goods by 1.2% and in consumer goods by 1%.

At the yearly level, an increase was registered in the production of capital goods (8.8%) and consumer goods (7.7%), while the output of intermediate good dropped 0.7%.

The value of inventories was up 0.5% compared to March and rose 7.3% year-on-year.
