Pahor to meet Van der Bellen over Ukraine in Vienna on Tuesday

Vienna - President Borut Pahor will start a two-day visit to Vienna on Tuesday. He will meet with Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen to discuss Russia's military aggression in Ukraine. The next day, Pahor will pay a visit to the renowned Diplomatic Academy of Vienna, the president's office said on Monday.

The presidents of Slovenia and Austria will meet at the Hofburg Palace on Tuesday afternoon to discuss the Russian military aggression in Ukraine and potential courses of action to end it as soon as possible, and to establish dialogue that could lead towards a peaceful solution.

Pahor will then pay a visit on Wednesday to the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna, also known as the Vienna School of International Studies. He will address diplomats and students at the academy at the invitation of the its director, Ambassador Emil Brix.

The Diplomatic Academy of Vienna was founded in 1754 by Empress Maria Theresa and it claims to be the oldest academic institution in the world that is dedicated to professional foreign affairs training.

Pahor will give a talk there on the Western Balkans and the region's Central European perspective. He is also expected to address the ongoing war in Ukraine and its implications for European and global peace, the president's office said.
