Growth slows as 3,271 new cases of coronavirus confirmed

Ljubljana - A total of 3,271 new cases of coronavirus were recorded in Slovenia on Wednesday, at 6% a slower week-on-week increase than in the past two weeks. Hospital figures continue to decline, but seven people with Covid-19 died, show fresh government data.

The latest case count, coming from almost 2,000 PCR tests and more than 14,000 rapid antigen tests, brings the 14-day incidence per 100,000 population to 1,759, up by 46 from the day before.

The rolling average of new daily cases rose by 31 to 2,901, according to Health Ministry data.

Hospitalisations due to Covid-19 dropped to 138 this morning, including 38 patients who required intensive care, down by one from yesterday.

The health authorities estimate there are currently more than 37,000 active cases in the country.
