Ljubljana - The non-parliamentary Freedom Movement party of ex-energy business executive Rober Golob is slightly ahead of the ruling Democrats (SDS) of Prime Minister Janez Janša, according to the Elections 2022 poll that Ninamedia carried out for the newspapers Večer, Dnevnik, Svet24 and Primorske Novice between 21 and 24 March.

Polling at 20.7%, the Freedom Movement has a 1.2-point lead on the SDS, while a total of eight parties would make it to parliament.

All the other parties polled below 10%, with the Social Democrats (SD) at 8.6%, the Left at 7.9% and New Slovenia at 5.1%.

The Marjan Šarec List (LMŠ) tallied 4.9%, the alliance Connecting Slovenia 3.3% and the Alenka Bratušek Party (SAB) 3%.

The respondents - 1,050 were polled over the phone - were asked for which party from the list provided by pollsters they would vote in the April election. Only those respondents who said they will go to the polls responded to the questions.

A total of 19.6% were unwilling to state which party they would vote for, refused to reveal their decision, have not yet decided or would not vote for any of the parties.

Compared to the previous Elections 2022 poll, carried out on 7-10 March, the first three parties saw their support fall - by 0.3 of a point (Freedom Movement), 0.7 of a point (SDS) and 1.5 points (SD).

The Left and the NSi saw their support increase, by 0.4 of a point and 0.2, respectively, whereas Connecting Slovenia remained flat.

Almost 63% said they will definitely go to the polls, 13.4% will probably go to the polls and 11.1% might go to the polls. 9.3% will definitely not cast their votes.
