Covid cases down 10% week-on-week as epidemic continues to wane

Ljubljana - A total of 3,012 new coronavirus cases were recorded in Slovenia on Tuesday, or 10% less than the figure reported the same day a week ago as the downward trend continued for the sixth day running. Hospitalisations are meanwhile up slightly, and two Covid-19 patients died yesterday.

The National Institute of Public Health estimates there are now 39,070 actively infected people in the country, 118 more than the previous day.

The 7-day average of new daily cases dropped to 2,670, down 40 from the previous day, while the 14-day notification rate per 100,000 people was up by six to 1,850.

The latest coronavirus cases were picked up from 1,607 PCR tests and 12,186 rapid antigen tests.

Hospitalisations are up, as 151 persons are currently hospitalised for Covid-19 in ordinary wards, two more than yesterday, while the number of patients in intensive care units was up by one to 38.

Two people with a confirmed Covid-19 infection died yesterday, the Health Ministry said.
