Dinosaurs Invade European Capital of Culture

Starting with the medieval town of Ptuj on Friday, the massive dinosaurs will continue their march in Maribor on Saturday and Sunday, finishing in Murska Sobota on Monday.

The parades of the massive puppets, measuring up to seven metres in height and 14 metres in length, are organised by the Puppeteers' Association.

They will feature seven dinosaurs accompanied by dancers and musicians. Director Saša Jovanovič told the STA that the puppets were inspired by Chinese dragons but instead of paper and bamboo, the dinosaurs are made of fabric and plastic sticks.

Lila Prap's books have been translated into a number of foreign languages and are among the most popular children's books in some 40 countries around the globe.

She is especially popular in Japan, where a series of TV cartoons has been made based on her cartoon books.
