Ljubljana - The Italian chocolate-maker Ferrero has recalled further Kinder products from store shelves across Europe due to potential link to salmonella cases in some countries. In Slovenia it has recalled certain batches of Kinder Schoko-Bons and Kinder Happy moments as a preventive measure as some retailers also pulled out other Kinder products.

Kinder Slovenija said they were voluntarily recalling certain batches of Kinder Schoko-Bons and Kinder Happy moments chocolate products that were manufactured in Belgium. In a post on its web site the company said no Kinder product present on the Slovenian market had tested positive and they had received no consumer complaints.

The Administration for Food Safety, Veterinary Sector and Plant Protection said it had received notification on Wednesday from the distributor Atlantic Trade that the products were being recalled from stores in Slovenia operated by different retailers. Some retailers also removed some other Kinder products from their shelves.

The salmonella poisoning is being looked into by European food safety and disease control authorities. Almost half of more than 100 cases confirmed so far have been in the UK with children also affected in Germany, Belgium, France, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Sweden and Norway.
