Almost All Slovenians Can Speak One Foreign Language
Equally, Slovenians are above EU average in using foreign language while watching TV or films, as 68% watch foreign language programmes compared to 37% of all EU citizens.
What is more, as many as 86% of Slovenians prefer watching subtitled films and TV programmes to those dubbed, which is 42% more than the EU average.
Meanwhile, 98% of the respondents believe that better knowledge of foreign languages will help their children in the future.
However a survey among teenagers in 14 EU countries showed that only 42% have a competent knowledge of the first foreign language and only a quarter are competent in the second foreign language.
While in Sweden and Malta 82% of teenagers are competent in the first foreign language, in France the percentage stands at 14% and in the UK at 9%.
