Ljubljana - A group led by ex-soldier Ladislav Troha and dubbed the Conscious Residents of Slovenia came to the seat of the National Electoral Commission (DVK) today. After they failed to respond to calls to leave the premises and stop obstructing the commission's work, the DVK called the police. Troha is reportedly infected with coronavirus.

Five men passed a security guard to enter the DVK headquarters, the commission confirmed for the STA, with Troha saying that he had come to supervise the commission's work on behalf of civil society and observe its session.

Dušan Vučko, the head of the DVK, said that the commission was not in session. He asked Troha to leave the premises, because he was obstructing the work of the DVK service, DVK spokeswoman Tina Hrastnik told the STA.

Troha responded he was not going anywhere and would not leave even after repeated calls by Vučko, so police were called, Hrastnik said. Later it transpired that Troha is infected with coronavirus, she added.

Reporting of the incident, web portal N1 noted that Troha published on Facebook three days ago that he had Covid-19.

According to web portal Siol, the incident happened at around noon and Troha also wanted to film the commission's work.

The group Conscious Residents of Slovenia, consisting of coronavirus deniers and anti-vaccination protesters, stormed the headquarters of the Slovenian public broadcaster last September, managing to get into the newsroom studio before the police intervened.

The incident followed after the group had been protesting against Covid-19 containment measures and vaccination in front of the RTV Slovenija headquarters for four months, harassing staff and demanding air time to be able to present their truth to the public.

The incident, which ended after the police removed some 20 maskless protesters from the building, drew widespread condemnation.
