Ljubljana - The National Assembly was expected to take note of the resignation of Agriculture Minister Jože Podgoršek on Tuesday but did not even convene a session. The college of deputy group leaders, which has the formal power to call a session, was inquorate because coalition faction leaders did not show up.

It is unclear whether Speaker Igor Zorčič will even attempt to call a new session of the collegiate body, the National Assembly said. The term of the current parliament will end in less than two weeks.

Podgoršek resigned on 20 April over lack of clarity regarding the payment of his weekend stay at an upscale hotel in Bohinj in January, after a series of media reports showing the bill was paid by a company which stood to benefit from his influence. He denies any wrongdoing.
