EUR 750m to be spent on road maintenance in 10 years
Ljubljana - The government has recently selected contractors for regular maintenance of Slovenia's main and regional roads in the period between 2022 and 2032 earmarking EUR 752.6 million. The sum amounts to an annual rise of 15% in nominal terms from the 2015-2021 period and to a 2% rise in real terms.
While the previous concession contracts were concluded for seven years, the new ones apply to a ten-year period, the Infrastructure Agency said.
The agency is in charge of managing and maintaining 5,961 kilometres of state and regional roads, which are divided into nine areas.
The government has recently concluded the ten-year concession contracts for maintenance in eight areas in the amount of EUR 75.3 million a year, up from EUR 65.4 million in the previous period.
The rise in funds is partly due to some more regular maintenance works planned and some new segments of maintenance added, such as filling gaps and cracks, and supply of traffic signals and equipment, which have so far been carried out on the basis of separate tenders or contracts.
