Candidates for minister in the new government
Ljubljana - Below is a provisional line-up of ministers in the likely Robert Golob government, which is expected to have 19 ministers and one minister without portfolio. All names have not been revealed yet.
Prime minister: Robert Golob, president of the Freedom Movement
Foreign and EU affairs: Tanja Fajon, MEP, leader of the Social Democrats
Solidarity-based future: Luka Mesec, MP, leader of the Left
Defence: Marjan Šarec, former prime minister and MP, leader of the non-parliamentary Marjan Šarec List (LMŠ)
Finance: Klemen Boštjančič, businessman, former executive at tourism company Sava and Adria Airways
Interior: Tatjana Bobnar, former police commissioner
Economy, tourism and sport: Matjaž Han, senior SocDem MP
Justice: Dominika Švarc Pipan, jurist, ran as SocDem candidate for MP
Health: Danijel Bešič Loredan, orthopaedist, elected MP on the Freedom Movement slate
Infrastructure: Alenka Bratušek, former prime minister and MP, leader of the non-parliamentary Alenka Bratušek Party (SAB)
Public administration: Sanja Ajanovič Hovnik, secretary at Agency for Agricultural Markets and Rural Development
Nature protection and spatial planning: Uroš Brežan, long-time mayor of Tolmin
Environment and energy: Bojan Kumer, director at energy retailer Gen-I
Higher education, science, innovation and digitalisation: Igor Papič, former chancellor of the University of Ljubljana
Education: Amalija Žakelj, mathematics professor, works at Education Institute
Office for Slovenians Abroad: Matej Arčon, former mayor of Nova Gorica, elected MP for the Freedom Movement.
The names of the ministers of digital transformation, agriculture, European cohesion policy, culture and labour have not been revealed yet.
