Freedom Movement endorses coalition agreement

Ljubljana - The Freedom Movement's top brass unanimously endorsed the coalition agreement and the list of ministerial candidates on Thursday. The initialing of the agreement is expected over the weekend and the names of all candidates will be known by Monday, the party's leader Robert Golob said.

Giving a press statement after the party's governing council session, Golob, the presumptive new prime minister, said the Freedom Movement will initial the coalition agreement together with the SocDems and Left on Saturday. Afterwards, the agreement, said to number upwards of 80 pages, will be presented to the public.

The agreement is based on his party's election platform, which was aligned in some points with the remaining two coalition parties during their negotiations, Golob said, adding it was based on a new social pact. The focus is on healthcare, green and digital transformation, intergenerational dialogue, housing policy and media freedom.

Emilija Stojmenova Duh, an electrical engineer and gender equality activist, was confirmed as the candidate for the post of digital transformation minister. She was a candidate foir MP on the SocDem ticket but it no longer a member of the party and will fall under the Freedom Movementr ministerial quota, according to Golob.

His party also okayed the candidate for agriculture minister, but before revealing her name, they need to get her consent. The remaining three candidates that have not yet been revealed - those slated to take over the culture, labour, and cohesion and regional development portfolios, will be put forward by the SocDems and Left, and the names should be known by Monday.
