LMŠ too endorses consolidation of liberal bloc

Politics

Ljubljana - As the Freedom Movement confirmed plans to merge with the Marjan Šarec List (LMŠ) and Alenka Bratušek Party (SAB), the LMŠ executive committee too endorsed the merger, with the party's governing council yet to take a vote on the matter.

This comes after LMŠ head Marjan Šarec accepted the post of defence minister and some other senior party members are in talks to occupy leading positions in parliament and government.

The committee endorsed Šarec's ministerial candidacy and the participation of other party members in the government at the session on Thursday, just as the Freedom Movement and SAB confirmed plans for the merger.

The LMŠ and SAB did not make it to parliament in the 24 April general election.

Bratušek is planned to take over the infrastructure portfolio, which she has led once before.

Freedom Movement leader Robert Golob, the presumptive new prime minister, told the press on Thursday the consolidation of liberal bloc would unfold at an accelerated pace.
