Slovenia is willing to help Afghan security forces protect the civilian population; this will be cheaper than helping with troops, Janša said.

Janša also confirmed Slovenia planned to keep its troops in Afghanistan until the completion of the mission of the NATO-led ISAF force.

Rasmussen acknowledged that the pullout of military units from Afghanistan would be a great logistic challenge for NATO, but he could not provide a cost estimate.

Apart from Afghanistan, the pair discussed implementation of the conclusions of the recent NATO summit in Afghanistan, the situation in Syria and NATO expansion to Western Balkans.
