The event will also include the first international accordion workshop, conducted by acclaimed musicians of the likes of multi-instrumentalist Boštjan Gombač and backed up by funds from the European Commission.

The purpose of the workshop will be to establish the biggest accordion orchestra in south-east Europe called Panonika harmonika, which will play concerts all over Europe, said the festival director Ksenija Zorko.

Last year the festival broke the Guinness world records with the most accordion players gathered in one place and the biggest orchestra in the world with 1137 accordion players.

The organizers want to break new records by putting together the biggest women's accordion orchestra, as well as preparing the biggest Slovenian lunch and cooking the biggest pot of beef broth totalling 4000 litres.

Zoran Zorko will also attempt to play the accordion for the longest uninterrupted stretch of time. To beat the current record, he will have to play for more than 31 hours and 25 minutes. For this challenge he has prepared 200 compositions.

The festival will be launched by a gala concert headlined by Davor Radolfi, Vlatko Stefanovski and the group Terrafolk. Performers at the festival will also include Čuki, Tanja Žagar, the group Frajle and Fake Orchestra.

The festival will be accompanied by a wine festival in the courtyard of the Brežice castle and a display of crafts. A workshop for children will also be organized.

The organizers expect more than 15,000 visitors.
