Culture

Ljubljana - Prints by 43 Slovenian artists are being put on display in the Tivoli Mansion in Ljubljana later on Tuesday in what is a selection of graphic art production in the country since 2018.

The exhibition Prints and Impressions 2 is the result of a public call for submissions to Slovenia's artists of all generations actively working in the field of fine art printing and printmaking.

The works on display have been selected from about 500 submissions by more than a hundred artists by an international judging panel comprising Mario Čaušić, an associate professor at the Academy of Arts in Osijek, Croatia, Miloš Đorđević of the University of Kragujevac, Serbia, and Barbora Kundračíková, head of the Department of the Museum of Modern Art in Olomuc, Czechia.

The exhibition has been curated by Breda Škrjanec and Božidar Zrinski of the International Centre of Graphic Arts, which is based in the Tivoli Mansion.

Talking with the STA before the opening, Zrinski said that most of the prints on display were of exceptional quality and the exhibition was a demonstration of the diversity of Slovenian graphic art production.

The exhibition also features some of the up-and-coming artists, whose work is being presented in public for the first time and who Zrinski feels will have many successful exhibitions yet.

On display until 2 October, the exhibition also features an accompanying programme.
