Delo: Zelensky to address Slovenian parliament on Friday

Ljubljana - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will address the National Assembly via video link on Friday at 10am, the newspaper Delo reported online on Tuesday.

This is after National Assembly Speaker Urška Klakočar Zupančič was authorised by the parliamentary foreign policy and EU affairs committees behind closed doors two weeks ago to invite Zelensky to address Slovenian MPs, acting on a motion by the opposition Democrats (SDS).

Delo also reports that deputy group leaders were informed about Zelensky's Friday address after today's session of the college of deputy group leaders.

Prime Minister Robert Golob talked with Zelensky before the EU summit at the end of June, assuring him that Slovenia's attitude towards Ukraine had not changed despite the change in power. Zelensky thanked Golob for Slovenia's readiness to support the EU's move to grant Ukraine EU candidate status.
