Flight cancellations at Ljubljana airport rare

Brnik - As mass staff shortages have forced many air carriers in Europe to cancel flights, only some individual flights have been so far cancelled at Slovenia's main international airport Ljubljana. Airport operator Fraport Slovenija meanwhile acknowledges this could quickly change if the situation abroad escalates.

Data shows that less than 5% of the flights at the Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport have been cancelled, Fraport Slovenija told the STA on Friday.

The situation is not as critical like it is at some other European airports, "however, if the situation escalates abroad, it could quickly reflect here."

However, passengers have complained that Hungarian low-cost airline Wizzair has cancelled Brussels-Ljubljana for the summer months.

They claim this can seen from that fact that ticket for flights in July and August are not available for purchase, while they are for September.

Fraport Slovenija is not aware of Wizzair's pulling out for the summer.

"Our system does not show that any carrier has completely cancelled flights to Ljubljana, but cancellations are coming in daily so the situation could change relatively quickly due to the general shortage of crews."
