Russia Wishes to Erect Memorial to Troops Killed in Slovenia in WWI

The pair underlined that bilateral relations were intensive and excellent in all fields, according to a press release from the National Assembly.

Zheleznyak arrived in Slovenia for the traditional commemoration of Russian WWI POWs who died under an avalanche while building the Vršič mountain pass.

Ljubljana Archbishop Anton Stres meanwhile received the delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church led by Bishop Sava Voskresenky, who are also in Slovenia for the ceremony held annually at the Russian chapel under the Vršič pass.

The Sunday ceremony will be addressed by Prime Minister Janez Janša and Yury Vorobyov, deputy chairman of the upper chamber of the Russian parliament.
