Milan/Ljubljana - Unicredit Banka Slovenija, the Italian banking group Unicredit's subsidiary in Slovenia, posted just under EUR 20 million in net revenue in the second quarter of this year, level with the same period last year. Net profit stood at EUR 4.5 million, down about EUR 1 million, but it rose in the first half of the year.

In the second quarter of the year, net interest income fell from EUR 11.6 million to EUR 11.3 million, and fees and commissions rose slightly, from EUR 5.4 million to EUR 5.5 million.

In the first half of the year, Unicredit Banka Slovenija generated a net profit of EUR 12.9 million, up 5.1% compared to the first six months of last year. Revenue totalled EUR 37.8 million, down 5.4%.

The subsidiary announced last week that it had sold its leasing arm Unicredit Leasing. The new owner is APS Group, whose Slovenian company APS Finance Adria is based in Maribor. Unicredit Leasing has been inactive on the market for roughly two years and has not been acquiring new clients.

Unicredit Banka Slovenija's parent company and Italy's second largest bank, Unicredit, posted a net profit of EUR 1.82 billion in the second quarter of the year, almost doubling its result year-on-year, and EUR 2.09 billion in the first half of the year. This is the sixth consecutive quarter of profit growth and the best first half result in the past decade.
