Delo thinks the crisis ahead will not be very bad

Economy

Ljubljana - The newspaper Delo says in Saturday's front-page commentary that it all seems that the new economic crisis ahead will not be as bad as the last financial and economic crisis or the Covid crisis.

Warnings by some famous economists that a new economic cataclysm is around the corner are probably an exaggeration, the paper says.

"But at the same time we must be aware that the long-term period of extremely low, even negative interest rates and almost non-existing inflation was something out of the ordinary.

"The current high inflation - reaching as much as 11% in Slovenia most recently - is not good news for many but there are signals in this field as well that there is no danger that stagflation from the 1970s would repeat."

"Still, we live in extremely interesting times. While restaurants, hotels and airports are full despite price hikes, households and companies are at the same time preparing for uncertain autumn and winter. Like the whole of Europe wants to have one last party," Delo says under the headline Last Party.
